  • At the parking lot go through a horse gate and follow the trail [southwesterly] up to a saddle.
At an unmarked crossing after 1.6 Mile turn left [Hot Loop]. Right leads to Woods Canyon Trail.
Follow the trail up, in the same general northeasterly direction. The trail is sometimes hard to distinguish.
You come to a tank [small pond of water] and you follow the trail. At a crossing take left to an overlook and look at Bell Rock and Courthouse Butte.
The trail heads on further than a day hike permits. Don't get lost because there are a lot of trails heading in different directions on this mesa.
