  • An impressive wash hike.

For driving instructions: Elephant knees But don't drive this route all the way!

When you drive past the Wind Caves (there is a sign on your left), turn right (West), but be careful, there is a lot of loose sand.
DON'T go to the Elephant knees, that's the South Fork.

Follow this "Road", this is the North Fork.
Road conditions may vary, a higher clearance car with AWD is recommended.

Stop at our parking point or stop at the Wind caves and hike from there.
To shorten the hike, follow the "Road" by car, as far as you like.

Follow the main wash up and shortcut it when possible. There should be plenty of firm stretches in this sandy wash.
When in doubt, look for tire tracks, even in the impossible places.

At the end you can go back the same way.
Or you can easily cross over (at point "Over") into another wash (Mollusk Wash) and follow it down.
