  • A beautiful loop along Lizardhead and chimney rock.

Start at the Chimney Rock trailhead.
Head for the Chimney Rock pass.

At the Xing 3 take the marked LizardHead trail. This part is the most challenging. The trail heads up and goes along a ridge. Next to the trail it goes way down, so take care.

Follow the trail all the way to the Vultee Arch road. Additional parking just before the Vultee Arch road, along the road.
Cross the road as you see the Girdner trailhead on the opposite site of the road.

Follow Girdner up to the crossing with two fences and turn left.
After a short while you see why it is named two fences.

At the two fences trailhead cross the road and follow it a short while in the direction of Sedona.

Turn left at the (still) unmarked trail. Meeting the LizardHead trail at Xing 5
This time take the (still) unmarked lower trail that heads for chimney rock.

At Xing 4 follow the LizardHead trail and at Xing 3 turn right and make a loop around Chimney Rock.

If it wasn't for the Lizardhead trail the trail would be classified as mostly easy.
